Michele’s Marriage Journey
Iâve been married almost 25 years to the love of my life, but we have definitely had our bumps in the road. Before we married, no one told us that it was going to be lot of work! Despite having a masters in marriage and family therapy, I did not have the secret sauce to skate through lifeâs challenges. We were hit with health issues, infertility, and a myriad of other life events, and we slowly started to notice WE were no longer a WE, but rather, two Iâs.
In marriage therapy, we learned that it takes being intentional to our commitment to each other and our own individual growth to have a strong marriage. We needed to address the issues rather than avoid them and hope they would miraculously disappear (Boy, would that be nice!). While we were both scared of being vulnerable and risking being hurt, it was through this process that our marriage became richer and more authentic. Today, our connection is
deeper than ever and we thoroughly enjoy spending time together. Simply put, thereâs no WE I would rather be a part of than our marriage.
