Why do we fight so much?
We fight about everything
Big things. Little things. Everything hits a nerve, and before you know it, you’re screaming at each other over taking out the trash.
You feel like you’re on the edge of turning and walking away — saying “I just don’t care anymore.”
There’s good news here. Fighting means there’s passion for staying together — now you need tools to fight and make progress.
Fighting can bring you closer together
Not that long ago, therapists were trained to de-escalate fighting by creating a ‘safe environment’ in the office for couples to talk things out. It was a good idea but it didn’t help the couple at all once they got home and didn’t have the therapist to mediate.
