Curtain Up! Anxiety Down! Social Anxiety Group
Many people experience anxiety and insecurity in social situations, and these days this problem is on the increase. Often, it is directly connected to feelings of depression and uncertainty, which can make it difficult to interact confidently with others.
But all is not lost: Murray Dabby now offers the course Curtain Up! Anxiety Down! This unique approach to overcoming social anxiety uses the performance art of improvisation. Improv promotes spontaneous “play” with others in ways that are fun, intimate and quickly transformative. Murray’s classes combine therapeutic improvisation with group conversation to help participants fully understand the practical applications of the improv experience.
These improv groups include a wide range of people, from college-age students and career professionals to retirees. The students share a desire to boost their confidence in a variety of social situations, whether it’s navigating the work environment or simply meeting new people.
Murray’s Adult Improv classes run twice a year, in February and September. The 12-week course moves participants comfortably and deliberately through accessible improv exercises designed to help develop fundamental social skills, process one’s feelings and apply improv’s lessons to real life. We periodically host improvisation courses for young people, as well.
